Frequently asked questions

Does Gear4Greys have a physical shop that I can visit?

Gear4Greys is an online store only. As a not-for-profit we are run by volunteers and do not have a shopfront. This enables us to keep our running costs down, offer great prices to our customers, and of course give more support to Foster Hounds!

I need something in a hurry, but there is no option for Express Post at checkout?

Please email us at gear4greys@gmail.com after you have completed your purchase, referencing your order number so we can send you an invoice for an additional $10 to cover Express Postage (for offline payment). Please note- this does not apply to the delivery of Beds and Blankets.

How do I measure my Hound for a Harness?

Measure your Hounds girth in the position shown in this diagram. It is often easiest to measure your Hound with a piece of string, then measure the string with a ruler or tape measure. Medium : 61cm-70cm (24"-28") Large : 71cm-80cm (28"-35") Extra Large: 81cm-91cm (32"-36") If your Hound is in between sizes, select the next size up.

How do I measure my Hound for a Coat?

Measure your Hounds length and chest as shown on this diagram. Each coat category has the applicable size ranges in the description for that design. It is often easiest to use a piece of string to measure your Hound, then measure the string with a tape measure or ruler. Always measure your Hound in a standing position. Our coats are sized according to size, not weight, as we find this results in a much better fit. After measuring if you are still not sure which size you need please contact us so we can assist.

Does Gear4Greys offer "buy now pay later" options?   (e.g. Afterpay, Zip)

At present we don't have these payment options, however if you see something you love and it's not within your budget right now we do offer Lay-buy.. Please contact us by email gear4greys@gmail.org before placing your order to arrange this service; including your name, mobile number and delivery address, and a description of the items required (product name, colour, size, quantity). Maximum period six weeks. Weekly or fortnightly payments, whichever suits you best. Goods are not despatched until full payment is received. **Please note that in the unlikely event you cannot finalise your lay-buy within the agreed time and no mutually suitable arrangement can be made; the reserved items(s) will be returned to stock, and a refund issued to you for the sum of payments already made, less 20%.

Is the Gear4Greys product label made of leather?

No, our label is synthetic leather, with a soft "leather feel". Out of concern for the welfare of all animals we do not use genuine leather.

I need a Greyhound Bed, but would prefer to pick it up rather than wait for delivery

We can arrange pickup of Beds (location Melbourne South Eastern suburbs) Mon-Thurs 8.30am-4pm only. Please place your order online, noting that pickup is requested. We will then contact you to arrange a suitable time, and the shipping portion of your payment will be refunded accordingly. You may also send an email to us at gear4greys@gmail.com if you wish to, just to make doubly sure your request for pickup is noted. Normally 24 hours notice is required to arrange this, but if it's urgent we will do our best to help if we can.

I don't have Paypal or use my credit card online.  How can I pay for my order?

At checkout in the payment section please select "manual payment." At completion of your order a confirmation email will generate that includes our bank details so you can pay by direct funds transfer. An order number will be included which needs to be used as your payment reference number.

How do I get a pull-on Coat onto my Hound? (e.g. Second Skins & Funky ranges)

Put your Hounds head through the neck hole first, then gently put each front leg into the arm-holes one at a time. Once this is done position the coat correctly on your Hounds body for a comfortable fit. To take the coat off, start at the rear end and gently peel the coat back and over the head, then gently remove one leg at a time. If you have not used pull-on Coats before, don't worry, your Hound will soon get used to this process and enjoy the comfort of a fitted coat. If they're a little reluctant at first, treats often help!
